I used a sample of a friend's stool, one who has had remarkably long-term consistent bowel movements, GI health, and energy most would be envious of. After the procedure I noticed my bowel movements smelled totally different for a few days and were more consistent than my own. That lasted a few weeks. I have not brought myself to try it again, though.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4073397588746430486.post-43428577751185185872013-01-08T21:16:01.510-10:002013-01-08T21:16:01.510-10:00Heidi,

While fecal transplants have achieved medical legitimacy as a treatment for C. diff, I don't know if it would be covered under any insurance plan or still labeled experimental treatment; you might have to make a few more phone calls.

I'm sorry you are still sick with this. C. difficile is no fun at all. I recommend contacting those who have done peer-reviewed research on fecal transplants and asking them specific questions as well as contacting a doctor who has experience administering them. Best to be fully informed, though from what I read the success rate is pretty good and the procedure - while considered somewhat gross to many people - isn't painful and improvement can be seen in a matter of days.

Good luck. Please let me and other readers know how it goes, especially since someone else reading might (unfortunately) need to learn about such treatment and would benefit from your research and experience.Camp Otherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10224408965529778101noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4073397588746430486.post-47980901938982683632013-01-06T20:12:01.629-10:002013-01-06T20:12:01.629-10:00There is one thing which I have been considering -...There is one thing which I have been considering -- a fecal transplant. I'm screwing up my courage to write to a doctor in NYC who is reputed to be willing to do them for patients with conditions other than refractory C. diff. If you would be interested in what I learn, I can let you know.loshakovahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11507920820618574128noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4073397588746430486.post-997431091354097692013-01-03T17:00:41.165-10:002013-01-03T17:00:41.165-10:00Hi Heidi,

I'm not sure what's next, either, and I am trying to see if I can examine my medical condition from a different angle or two this year. We'll see how it goes.

I hope 2013 is a better year for us both. It's time for a positive shift.

COCamp Otherhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10224408965529778101noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4073397588746430486.post-56448971699827554922013-01-01T13:26:31.932-10:002013-01-01T13:26:31.932-10:00Dear Camp,

Like you, I'm still here and still sick -- currently off antibiotics, but also currently without medical support. I worry a lot about what will become of me, and value your blog so much for its rational perspective and thoughtfulness. Here's hoping that 2013 brings better health and quality of life for both of us.
kind regards
Heidiloshakovahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11507920820618574128noreply@blogger.com
